Verlie M. Horner, 89, of Morristown, went to be with his Lord Monday, March 30, 2020 at UT Medical Center.

He had been an employee with the City of Morristown for 23 years and had a lifelong love of airplanes and aviation.

Preceding him in death were his parents, William Henry and Etta Massengill Horner; and brothers, Ollen, Eugene, Arlyn and Carroll Horner.

Verlie was a loving husband of 60 years to Carolyn Horner; father to Rene’ (Calvin) Williams and Pamela (David) Purkey; and grandfather to Lowell and Neenah Williams.

Friends may pay their respects 8 a.m. – 1 p.m., Friday, April 3 at Mayes Mortuary/ Due to the current restrictions, at this time only a graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, April 3 at Jarnagin Cemetery with Rev. Allen Shupe officiating. The family will schedule a celebration of life service at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be directed to Mt. Airy United Methodist Church.
