Stuart Layne “Rabbit” Davis, 60, of Kennesaw, Georgia, formerly of New Market, fulfilled his earthly mission Thursday, April 8, 2021 in Augusta, Georgia, after a battle with complications of COVID-19.
Born February 10, 1961, Stuart grew up in New Market, where he proved early in life his quick speed in all his athletic endeavors. His father, John Tex Davis, aptly nicknamed his youngest son “Rabbit,” a name he wore with pride for life. His athletic ability and keen mind were quite evident in his Morristown West High School years from 1976 through 1979. Following high school, Stuart graduated from Tennessee Tech in 1984 with a degree in accounting. He owned and operated his own asphalt business, serving many municipalities and counties in Florida and Georgia. A disciplined hard worker, Stuart put in long hours working with his crew and was a boss who took care of his crew in every way.
All who knew Stuart appreciated his wisdom and love for God. He had a quick wit and was such a power house of information in healthy life choices, personal finances, and politics, but his devotion to the scriptures and ability to point a troubled soul in the right direction provided a path to salvation to many who sought his advice. He is the perfect example of a good Christian servant to his family, friends, and community.
He counseled so many in his knowledge of scripture and our duty to walk the Earth in humble service to others always putting ourselves last. He most definitely has been welcomed to his Eternal Home hearing our dear Lord say to him, “Well done, my good and faithful servant!”
Welcoming him to his eternal reward for his years of service and sacrifice on Earth are his older brother, Stanley; and his parents, John Tex and Reva Presson Davis.
He is survived by his oldest brother, John Steven Davis of New Market; his aunts, Carol Page and Cynthia Hewgley; his uncle, Alan Dean (Julia) Presson; several cousins; and a host of friends and associates who will forever appreciate his heart of gold.
A private memorial service will be held in Camden, Tennessee, where Stuart will be laid to rest with his dear parents and brother.
