Sam Myers

Sam Myers, 89, of Morristown went to be with the Lord and his brothers and sisters, Sunday, November 3, 2019. Sam was a faithful longtime member of Russellville Baptist Church. He entered the U.S. Army in 1951 during the Korean war. He was the former owner of Morristown Athletic Supply.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James C. and Flora Odom Myers; brothers, Dock Myers, of Russellville and Cass Myers of Thorn Hill; sisters, Verdie Myers, Lou Claborn, Dora Trent, Hazel Beeler and Gladys Ferguson, all of Morristown, and Dent Wolfe of Treadway; four nieces and nephews.

Survivors include his companion and life partner of 50 years, Shirley Phillips; eighteen special nieces and nephews and several great nieces and nephews.

Funeral services are planned for 8 p.m. Thursday, November 7, 2019 at Russellville Baptist Church. with Reverend Gene Nelson officiating. The family will receive friends, from 5 to 8 prior to the service. Military graveside services are planned for 11 a.m. Friday, November 8, 2019 in Hamblen Memory Gardens.
