Phyllis Ridley passed away Tuesday, May 19, 2020 in Morristown.

Phyllis taught middle and high school for 30 years in North Carolina, Oregon and Tennessee. She liked to feel she touched her students’ lives. She also enjoyed reading, camping, wildflowers and hiking. Phyllis was particularly fond of dogs, and for many years she had dachshunds for pets. She was an active member of First Baptist Church of Morristown. She especially enjoyed people and cherished friendships of longstanding and new friendships. Her family was her greatest joy.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband, Don White; her parents, Rufus and Ima Witcher Ridley; and her brother, Jere Rufus Ridley.

She is survived by her children, Hope Chambers, Troy and Cathy Chambers, and Leah and Tomas Pizana; grandchildren, Keegan and Tarrin Chambers, and Tomas and Miriam Pizana.

Instead of flowers, contributions may be made to First Baptist Church, Morristown, Senior Adult Joy Group Fund.
