Leo Shults Robinson

Leo Shults Robinson, 80, of Morristown, left this earth to meet his Lord and Savior Wednesday, November 6, 2019 at Life Care Center of Morristown.

Leo was truly God’s gift to his family and friends. He was born in Cosby and accepted Christ as his Savior as a teenager. Throughout his life, he extended God’s unconditional love to everyone he met. He graduated from Cocke County High School and then earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from East Tennessee State University. He never met a stranger in his years of working as an insurance salesman for Horace Mann or in his 30+ years of teaching and serving as principal in multiple schools in Norfolk, Virginia and East Tennessee. He was most known for teaching drafting at Morristown East High School and pioneering in teaching in the field of computer automated drafting at Carson-Newman University, where he positively impacted the lives of literally thousands of students and teachers alike.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Edwin Shults; mother, Ruby McCarter Shults; son, Christian Gordon Robinson; adopted father, Gordon Robinson; father, Carl Edwin Shults; adopted mother, Vaudie Lee Shults Robinson; and beloved sister, Ann Elizabeth “Dean” Shults Busbee.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Dr. Barbara Smith Robinson; sister and brother-in-law, Reba and Reed Marton; son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Maurice and Jennifer “Jen” Robinson; daughter and son-in-law, Drs. Eustacia and Robert “Rob” Pratt; granddaughter and husband, Ashley and Jason Coffey; granddaughter, Caitlyn Alexandria “Alex” Robinson; step-grandchildren, Morgan and Cydni Buchanan; beloved great-granddaughter, Annabelle Ruth Coffey; and a host of other family, including in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, former students, and friends.
