James “Larry” Burchett

James “Larry” Burchett, 80, of Talbott, passed away Sunday, October 25, 2020 at his residence. He was a member of Panther Springs United Methodist Church. Larry was a retired master sergeant from the United States Air Force, serving during Vietnam. He also served as mechanic for Air Force One. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother, and will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Minnie Burchett; sister, Erma Smith; and brother-in-law, Bob Meadows.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Dot Burchett; son, Troy (Christine) Burchett; daughter, Tonya Rose; honorary daughter, Jamie (Tommy) McKinnon; grandchildren, Nikki, and Daniel; honorary grandchildren, Jennifer and Scott; great-granddaughter, Penny; honorary great-grandchildren, Maleigha, Kiley, Presley, Mason, Daxtin, and James; and sister, Sylvia Meadows.

Family and Friends will meet 9:30 a.m., Thursday, October 29 for military graveside services at East Tennessee State Veteran’s Cemetery in Knoxville.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to The Wounded Warrior Project or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
