Jack H. Purkey, 72, of Morristown, passed away Saturday, June 27, 2020 at Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare System.

He was born September 24, 1947 in Morristown, where he grew up and graduated from Morristown High School. He then served four years in the Air Force and went on to graduate from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. Jack settled in Morristown and helped manage Purkey Real Estate with his family for years before he started his own business, Jack Purkey Appraisals. He was passionate about his work and extremely knowledgeable about real estate and business. Jack enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family and he was a lifelong animal lover. Jack was especially proud to be a grandfather to Elliott and Kayeden. Everyone who knew him remembers him as a kind, intelligent man who loved to read the newspaper and have long conversations.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Denise Purkey; and his daughter, Karen Purkey.

He is survived by his partner of 33 years, Billie Purkey; his children, Bryan Purkey, Susan Smetona (Matthew), Amanda Purkey, and Jennifer Lawson (William); his grandsons, Elliott Smetona and Kayeden Purkey; his brother, Bob Purkey; and many nieces and nephews.
