Ida Faye Long

Ida Faye Long, 85, of Morristown, passed away Saturday, July 17, 2021 at her home surrounded by family.

She accepted Christ at Union Missionary Baptist Church when she was a young girl.

Faye and her husband, Joe Don Long, owned and operated a couple of restaurants, Joe’s Grill on North Cumberland and Joe’s Drive-in on East Andrew Johnson Highway. Shortly after their restaurant stint, Faye started a long and prosperous career with Shelby Williams, from where she eventually retired. She took great pride in her job and worked hard to go above and beyond because “Bowlins were raised to be hard workers.”

Faye was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Don Long; her father and mother, Dana and Luana Bowlin; brothers, Eugene and Earl Bowlin; and sister, Geraldine Smith.

She is survived by her brother, Rex (Betty) Bowlin of Ohio; sisters, Blanche Munger and Edith (C.D.) Long; and sisters-in-law, Barbara Bowlin and Patsy Long Collins. Although Faye and Joe did not have any children of their own, she was a mother to many of her siblings, nieces, nephews, as well as great-nieces and nephews.

The family expresses special thanks to all of the nurses and caregivers from the Smoky Mountain Home Health and Hospice, especially Lori, as well as special caregivers, sister and brother-in-law, Edith and C.D. Long; sister, Blanche Munger; niece, Kathy Russell; and nephews and nieces, Mike Smith, Rusty Smith, Mitch Smith, and Avris Long.

Friends and family may pay their respects 9:30 a.m. – 5 p.m., Friday, July 23 in the east chapel of Allen Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at noon, Saturday, July 24 in Hamblen Memory Gardens with Rev. Mark Tanner and Lonnie Dalton officiating.
