Fred Lester White, 92, of Morristown, passed away Sunday, June 9, 2019 at the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center in Johnson City. He was a member of Alpha Baptist Church, and an over-the-road truck driver for more than 35 years. Fred was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during World War II and received the Silver Star Award, and was also Commander of the Disabled Veteran’s Association. He was a lifetime member of the VFW and American Legion and a member of the under-age Veteran’s Association. He was also heavily involved with the Teamsters Union.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty White; parents, Earl and Orpha White; sister, Norma Yokmoza; and brother, Clyde White.
He is survived by his daughters, Marilyn White Goedde and her husband Craig of Redington Shores, Florida and Carolyn White Kitchen of St. Petersburg, Florida; and grandchildren, Cynthia Wilynn Kitchen, Michael Aaron Kitchen and his wife Rea Beca-Kitchen, Amanda Blackmon, and JonDavid Blackmon.
The family will receive friends 5 – 7 p.m., Thursday, June 13 at Westside Chapel Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. with Dr. Chris Keathly officiating. Family and friends will meet at 11 a.m., Friday, June 14 at Jefferson Memorial Gardens for military graveside services.
