Faye Bales Oaten Mills

Faye Bales Oaten Mills went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, October 8, 2019, at the Serenity House in Morristown, with her family at her bedside.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Kate (Pratt) Bales; husband, William C. Oaten; husband, Wallace C. Mills; sister, Elva (Bill) Hux; brother, Albert (Stella) Bales; brother, Lawton Bales; brother, Raymond Bales; sister, Mary Belle ( Frank) Hodge; sister, Irene (Carroll) Noe; brother, L.M. Bales; brother Dewey (Betty) Bales; and brother, Jack (Lucille) Bales

She is survived by her daughter, Margaret (Michael) Cupp of Morristown,Tennessee; granddaughter, Morgan (Matthew) Sewell of Louisville, Tennessee; grandson, Matthew Braden Cupp of Morristown, Tennessee; great-granddaughter Mattison Faye Sewell of Louisville, Tennessee; sister, June Gilliam of Morristown, Tennessee; sister-in-law, Willie Bales of Talbott, Tennessee and many nieces and nephews.

Faye was known and loved by many as a woman who loved her Jesus and loved to do good works in His name. She was also known for her infectious spunk, sweet smile, and most of all her tremendous love for her family and friends.

Faye was a lifelong member of Pleasant View Baptist Church, in Talbott, Tennessee and spent many years teaching Sunday school to both the youth and women.

Faye graduated from the Tennessee School of Beauty in 1945 and spent many years enjoying her work as a cosmetologist in various facets. She also received her Certified Nurses Assistant training and worked doing private duty caregiving, which she found greatly rewarding.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 10 at Pleasant View Baptist Church, in Talbott, with the funeral services to follow with Dr. Larry R. Parrott officiating.

Graveside/interment services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, October 10, 2019 at Hamblen Memory Gardens in Morristown.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff at Wellington Manor, Smoky Mountain Hospice, Serenity House, and the wonderful caregivers that cared for Faye in her home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Morristown Friends of Hospice - Serenity House.
