Everette L. Purkey Jr., of the Alpha community, passed away Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at The Heritage Center.

Junior worked at the old American Enka for 31 years before retiring to help out at Colboch Harley-Davidson. He was an avid Harley-Davidson enthusiast.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Vada Royston Purkey; father, Louis Everett Purkey; sisters, Laura Robeson and Helen Nicholson; and brothers, Otto Purkey and Larry Purkey.

Survivors include his son, Scott (Christy) Purkey; brother, David W. (Pam) Purkey; sister-in-law, Lynn Purkey; and several nieces and nephews.

The family thanks the medical specialists at Avalon Hospice, The Heritage Center, Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare System, and UT Medical Center for their kind care of Junior.

Friends may pay their respects 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Thursday, September 16at Mayes Mortuary. Graveside services will be noon, Friday, September 17 at Sunderland Cemetery with Pastor Shane Pierce of Central Baptist Church officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare System Foundation.
