Donna Lyn Potter

Donna Lyn Potter of Marion, North Carolina, passed away Wednesday August 28, 2019. She was born December 2, 1956 in Marion.

Donna loved art, music, animals and people and was especially interested in family genealogy. She loved her work as a travel agent for many years and had the opportunity to travel the world. She also worked as a financial adviser for a period, but her last and most beloved role was as a caregiver for a special girl named Adrian.

Donna was loved by many, was an inspiration to everyone around her and had a smile that would light up a room. She was a truly beautiful person with a big heart and love for everyone. Donna will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Hawley Hicks and Lucille Copeland Hicks, Fuller Potter and Alice Otis Potter, and George Jenkins and Cindy Willamson Jenkins; brother, Matthew Potter; stepmother, Marilyn Ranta Potter; and stepfather, Larry Barlowe.

She is survived by her mother, Margie Hicks Barlowe; father, Benny Potter; sister, Celia Potter-Clark (Joey Wilder); brothers, Blain Potter (Lindy) and Paul Lauritzen (Trisha); special aunt, Mary Barton Potter Goodman; companion, caregiver and best friend, Timothy Mooney; special friends, Gisela Eikey Carr and Mark Cobble; nieces, Abby Clark Smith (Adam), Kaley Clark Moore (Leslie), Caroline Potter, Emma Lauritzen and Ivy Potter; nephews, Ryan Willis, Hunter Clark, Andy Potter, Christian Lauritzen and Fuller Potter.

There was a private family interment service Friday, September 13 at First United Methodist Church in Morristown. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date to be announced in Marion, North Carolina.
