Donald W. Crider

Preacher Donald W. Crider, 70, of Morristown, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, April 8, 2020 at Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare System. He was a member at City of Refuge Baptist Church. Don was former pastor of Goin’s Chapel Baptist Church in Sneedville and Eastwood Baptist Church in Morristown. Don dedicated his life to winning souls to the Lord and preaching the word. He served in the United States Army. Don served as chaplain for the Morristown Police Department, and his call sign was Chaplain 5; he was a devoted servant to the community for almost 20 years. Chaplain Crider was very dedicated to the officers of the MPD and their families. Our family mourns the loss of Preacher Don, husband, pastor, evangelist, and chaplain. Don sadly passed away from the COVID-19 virus. The family wants to take this opportunity to stress to the community to please take this seriously. Don loved his community, his family, and most of all his Lord and Savior. Don will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Judge Crider and Mary Crider; brothers, Homer Crider, William Paul Crider and Garrett Crider; sisters, Verl Crider, Elise Crider, Bessie Leslie, Grace Hammons, Lou Crider, Ruby Wallen and Judy Wright; and son, Donald Crider Jr.
