Charles D. Wright

Charles D. Wright, 94, of Russellville, went to be with the Lord Thursday, April 29, 2021 at his home. He was a member of Shady Grove Freewill Baptist Church. He served in the United States Army and fought in the Korean War. He also worked for the Hamblen County Sherriff’s Department for more than 20 years. He owned and operated a long-haul trucking service and logged more than three million miles.

Charles was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jane Wright; parents, Fred and Alberta Wright; brothers, Gary, James and Howard Wright; and daughter, Kathy Ann Marler.

Charles is survived by his sons, Charles D. Wright II and Tom (Julie) Wright; grandchildren, Michael Fawbush, Rebecca Carpenter, Travis Wright and Tracie Wright Gurley; great-grandchildren, Bella, Beau, Lauren, Morgan, Deanna and Kailey; sisters, Frances Jennings and Betty Wright; sister-in-law, Jan Spears Wright; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services are planned for 1 p.m., Wednesday May 5 in Catherine Nenney Baptist Church Cemetery with Kelly Reed officiating.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Daily Bread and/or Meals on Wheels.
