Carrol Dean “Heavy” Wilder went home to be with the Lord Saturday, January 9, 2021 at Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare System following a three week stay with COVID-19.
He was a faithful member and deacon of Barnard’s Grove Baptist Church. He taught a Sunday school class at Kingswood School for more than 20 years. He was a member of Tate Springs Lodge #438, and served on the Grainger County School Board for more than 30 years. He retired from IPI (formerly BASF). He touched many lives and will be missed very much.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Dorothy Wilder; and two infant children, Lea Ann and Carrol Todd.
Carrol is survived by his wife of 57 years, Deloris Harris Wilder; son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Stacia Wilder; grandsons, Sean and Jackson Wilder; great-grandson, Xander Wilder; brothers and sisters-in-law, Vernon and Betty Wilder and Dan and Janice Wilder; brothers- and sisters-in-law: Hurdle and Glenda Harris, and David and Genna Harris. and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends whom he loved like family.
Due to the ongoing pandemic, traditional funeral services will not be held.
Friends may call at their convenience 3 – 7 p.m., Tuesday, January 12 at Barnard’s Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 405 Broadway Dr., Bean Station. A graveside service will be held 2 p.m., Wednesday, January 13 at Meadow Branch Cemetery with Rev. Steve Smith officiating.
The family requests all recommended social distancing guidelines be followed, along with the use of facemasks.
