Bonnie Oakberg passed away April 25, 2020 and Frank Oakberg passed July 9, 2021. Because of the pandemic, the family was unable to have a celebration for Bonnie.

Bonnie and Frank were married for more than 52 years and were such a deeply devoted couple it is more than fitting to celebrate their lives at the same time together.

They were long-time residents of Hamblen County since 1968. After living in Morristown for a short while, they rented and then bought a farm on Valley Home Road. Bonnie taught school in Morristown for more than 30 years and together they ran the family farm. Very soon they became fixtures and mainstays of their community. No matter the time of day or night, they were always ready and willing to help their friends and neighbors, and were very much loved and respected.

Bonnie is survived by niece, Lori Elmore of Nevada; and many cousins.

Frank is survived by his mother, Elizabeth Oakberg of Oak Ridge; brother, John (Linda) Oakberg of Sevierville; sister, Marie (Phil Dowd) Oakberg of Delaware; sister, Natassa Sideris of Greece; along with nieces and cousins.

On behalf of Bonnie and Frank, the family extends its deepest heartfelt gratitude to very special close family friends Jim (Sandy) Hardy and family of White Pine; Philip (Angela) Smith and family of Morristown, and Linda Lamar of Morristown.

The family of Bonnie and Frank Oakberg will host a celebration of Bonnie’s and Frank’s lives 2 – 3 p.m., Saturday, July 24 at Stetzer-Bales Funeral Home. A service will follow. There will be a private ceremony at a later date for the scattering of their ashes.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Friends of Panther Creek, 2010 Panther Creek Rd., Morristown, TN 37814; ALPS Adult Day Services, 600 N. Daisy St., Morristown, TN 37814; or Friends of the Smokies, 3099 Winfield Dunn Pkwy., Ste. 2, Kodak, TN 37764.
