Bobby Joe Jones

Bobby Joe Jones, 82, of Morristown, passed from this life to his Heavenly home Thursday, October 29, 2020 at Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare System after a long battle with COPD. He was born August 8, 1938 in Sneedville. He proudly served in the U.S. Army, and later retired as a distributer for Little Debbie. He was a member of Holt’s Baptist Church for more than 60 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carson and Virginia Jones; twin sister, Betty Barnard; and brother, Otis Jones.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Linda Darnell Jones; daughters, Angie (Greg) Fleenor and Amy (Johnny) Norwood; the absolute pride of his life, his grandchildren, Robyn Fleenor and Cody (Whitney) Fleenor; brothers, Alfred Jones, Sonny (Janice) Jones, Grover (Ileta) Jones, and Benny (Linda) Jones; sisters, Ruth (Buddy) Alder and Imogene Riley; along with many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Friends may pay their respects 10 a.m. – noon, Saturday, October 31 at Westside Chapel Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m., Saturday at Holt’s Baptist Church with the Rev. Cody Fleenor, Rev. Alan Lamb, and Rev. Dale Harris officiating. Interment will follow at Economy Cemetery with Rev. Scott Greene officiating.

Pallbearers are Kenny Lemka, Jason Darnell, Brian Darnell, Gene Sampson, Carroll Gilbert, and Dennis Lamb.

Honorary pallbearers are David Holt, David Darnell, Don Bunch, Charlie Odom, and Chris Jones.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Holt’s Baptist Church or the charity of your choice.

Due to COVID-19 regulations, masks are required at funeral service.
