Billy “Bill” Eugene Estes, 79, of Talbott, was called home to meet the Lord Friday, July 10, 2020.

Bill was born on January 29, 1941. He grew up in Dandridge, graduated from Maury High School, and attended Morehead State University. He was currently employed at Blount Excavating. He enjoyed reading, fishing, and spending time with his family.

He was a devoted husband and wonderful father and papaw. There are no words to describe how special he was to us and how much he will be missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rella and Lida Hurst and Roy Estes.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Linda; daughter, Robin Denton (Billy); son, Chris Estes (Lynn); grandchildren, Polly Holt and Alex Pham Estes; brothers, Jim Estes (Gail), Roy Estes Jr. (Dottie), and Rev. Mark Estes (Patricia); sisters, Linda Spath (Dana), Karen Hodge (Terry), and Karen Caplinger (Randy); and many nieces and nephews.

Receiving of friends will be 5 – 7 p.m., Thursday, July 16 at Mayes Mortuary, with funeral services following at 7 p.m. Due to current circumstances, the family asks only close friends and family attend. We do not want to exclude anyone who loves Bill, but we also want to keep everyone safe. If you are or have been sick, or if you feel uncomfortable attending, you may express your condolences by phone. We are requesting that everyone in attendance wear a mask.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Bill’s memory to the American Heart Association at www2.heart.org.

Arrangements by Mayes Mortuary.
