Billy “Bill” Howard Moore

Billy “Bill” Howard Moore, 82, of Morristown, passed away Tuesday, July 28, 2020.

He was born April 22, 1938 in Whitesburg to Homer and Marie Moore. He graduated from Whitesburg High School. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was a 56-year member of Kyle Lodge #422 in Whitesburg, owner-operator of Moore’s Tractor Trailer Inc. for 31 years, and an avid local dirt track race car driver in the 1970s. Bill enjoyed his family above all else. He also enjoyed gardening, riding his motorcycle, and researching family history. There are many stories out there that will create laughter and fabulous memories. Everyone has a “Bill” story. He touched many lives and will be sadly missed.

Preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Marie Moore; brother, Curtis Moore; and sister, Verda Wells.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Christine (Chris) Moore; daughter, Tammie Moore; son, Scott (Kathryn) Moore; grandchildren, Ashley (Toby) Kirkland and Allison (Christopher) Moody; and great-grandchildren, Toby and Luke Kirkland, and Addison and Colton Moody. He is also survived by his canine companion Buddy Moore.

The body will lie in state 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., Friday, July 31 in the east chapel of Allen Funeral Home. Graveside services will be 11 a.m., Saturday, August 1 in Hamblen Memory Gardens with Dr. Kenyn Cureton officiating.
