Betty Jo “Bowlin” Bolden, born November 28, 1939, residing in Sneedville, departed this life October 18, 2019. She was saved as a 12-year-old girl at Yellow Branch Missionary Baptist Church, where she remained a lifelong member. Her testimony includes being baptized in the January blue flurry snow in the creek. She was the first of 13. Mamaw loved to crochet hand towels and gave a lot of them away. If you received one, she definitely loved you.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jessee Joe Bolden; parents, William “Willie” and Myrtle Laura (Parker) Mullins; and brothers, Jessee Willard Mullins, Doyle Mullins, Charlie Ugene “Deed” Mullins, Hubert Mullins “Hubbie Dubbie,” and Tommy Mullins.
She is survived by sons, Jessee Ralph Bowlin, Jimmy Wayne “Tootie” Bowlin and JC Bolden; grandchildren, Michael Bowlin, Misty (Dusty) Cooper, Joseph Bolden, Jeremy Bolden, Josh Bowlin and Rachel Bolden; special great-grandchildren, TreyBeon Cooper, who would watch ballgames with her, and Tagen Cooper, who got the love of Word Search from her, and Kaley and Noah Bowlin, these kids will miss her so much; brother; Chester Mullins; sister, Blanche Bolden; a host of nieces and nephews who loved her dearly; and special friends; Ginger Coffee, Van Cope and Loretta Gibson.

The family wishes to say a special thank you to all of her nurses who helped take care of her, with an honorary thanks to Christi Bowlin, which became one of her own grandbabies, and to her entire family for the love they gave Mamaw; to a special nurse, Tammy Seal; to her P.T. Anthony Burchett. She always looked forward to P.T.; to Dr. Short and to social worker Renae for going above and beyond to get assistance for Mamaw.
The family will receive friends 6 – 9 p.m., Sunday, October 20 at McNeil Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m., Monday, October 21 at Yellow Branch Missionary Baptist Church with the Revs. Jeff Seal, Joe Davis and Buster Jarvis officiating. Special music will be provided by Family Ties, Kim Davis, and Tagan and TreyBeon Cooper. Interment will follow in the Yellow Branch Church Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Michael Bowlin, Joseph Bolden, Jeremy Bolden, Josh Bowlin, Josh Collins, TreyBeon Cooper and Gage Maloney. Serving as honorary pallbearer will be Dusty Cooper, oh, how Mamaw loved him.
