Avonia B. Thress, 81, of Morristown, passed away Monday, July 23, 2018 at Life Care Center of Morristown. She was a 1955 graduate of Rule High School in Knoxville and a 1958 graduate of the University of Tennessee School of Nursing. Avonia loved animals and also served for years on the board of the Morristown-Hamblen Humane Society.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Robert Thress; mother, Agnes Goosie Blair; father, Earl M. Blair, and brother, Adrian Blair.

Survivors include her daughter, Lori Smith; granddaughter, Brittney Smith; great-granddaughter, Blaykley Smith, along with many special friends. Graveside services will be 11:30 a.m. Monday, September 24 at the East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery, 2200 E Governor John Sevier Hwy, Knoxville, TN 37920.
