Alpha Lydia Burke

Alpha Lydia Burke, 96, went to her heavenly home Sunday, November 15, 2020. She was a member of Briar Creek Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James Harrison Burke and Bobbie Givens Burke; brothers, Ernest Burke, JH Burke and Jimmy Burke; sisters, Mae Moles, Martha Ferguson, Mildred Brewer, Tena Lamb, Ova Turner and Dorothy Ferguson; nephews, James Moles, Dayton Moles, Thomas Ferguson, Michael Ferguson and Keith Burke; and niece, Linda Ferguson.

She is survived by nieces, Lois Greene, Gail Dean, Joyce Brown, Cathy Johnson, Ernestine Webber and Marcella Shockley; nephews, LC Ferguson, JB Brewer, Danny Lamb, Jesse Turner, Kenneth Turner, James Ferguson, Kyle Ferguson, Maynard Burke and Laymon Burke; several great-nieces and nephews; and host of other family and friends.

The family expresses their thanks to all the people who helped Alpha at home during her years of declining health: Hancock County Home Health Agency nursing staff and CNA caregivers, and Dr. John Short, and Lisa Trent, FNP, at Sneedville Medical Center.

Visitation will be held 10 a.m. – 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, November 18 at McNeil Funeral Home. Graveside services will follow at 2 p.m., Wednesday at Burke Cemetery with Rev. Tommy Seals officiating.
