A 29-year-old Whitesburg woman was airlifted to the University of Tennessee Medical Center Saturday afternoon when her car was struck by a train in Whitesburg.
The condition of the woman, whose name had not been released as of press time, has not be publicly released.
The woman lived in the area and was crossing the railroad tracks on Cannery Road toward Wall Street in Whitesburg when the train ran into the back of her black four-door compact car.
There was no railroad crossing guards at the railroad crossing.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
