Wallace Hardware: Continuing a legacy of service

Editor’s Note: This is the first of an ongoing series in partnership with the Morristown Area Chamber of Commerce showcasing local businesses. Wallace Hardware is no stranger to the Lakeway Area.

The hardware company is fast approaching 100 years of doing business in Morristown and has conducted more than 50 years of trade shows during that time.

Doyle Wallace, president and CEO, is also no stranger to the community as he took over the family business from his father, John D. Wallace.

During that time, the company has built a network of independent hardware stores and lumber companies that they do business with.

The trade shows, held every year at the Leconte Center in Pigeon Forge, have also become a staple for the company. The first show started in the company’s warehouse when some pallets were moved to the side.

Since then, they have also been held at Walters State Community College before moving just a few years ago to the Leconte Center.

“When you’re poor country folks, you got to start small and that’s how we started,” Wallace said in an article last year in the Citizen Tribune.

David Haun, the new industrial sales manager for Wallace Hardware, said the strength of the company is its longevity. With 100 years of experience, the company has a lot of knowledge to give customers and vendors.

One new aspect for the company is that it is now taking its great product offerings direct to business at wholesale pricing.

Another thing that has driven business is the ingenuity of Doyle, and his father John, in knowing early the value of expanding business into manufacturing, healthcare, education, utilities and municipalities.

The company itself offers a large quantity of products. More than 50,000 products are stored in the Morristown Distribution Center. Haun promises another thing as well as he takes over his new role.

“As the new industrial sales manager, I guarantee the greatest service available in our industry,” he said.

The company’s website can be found at www.wallacehardware.com And is located at 5050 South Davy Crockett Parkway in Morristown. Store hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday to Friday.
