A Sneedville man is facing aggravated assault and kidnapping charges in connection with an incident on Sunday.
Brandon Lee Murrell, 27, of Byrd Creek Road, was arrested Tuesday on Cool Branch Road in Hancock County on a warrant from the Hawkins County Sheriff’s Office.
According to a report by Cpl. Mark Harrell, of the HCSO, at 5:45 p.m., Monday, Harrell went to a residence on State Route 66 North in reference to an assault that had already happened. Harrell interviewed Savannah Kenner, Murrell’s girlfriend. Kenner said that she had been assaulted Sunday by Murrell at her residence on Spruce Pine Road in Rogersville. Kenner displayed bruises on both of her arms, on her left shoulder, back, neck and face. Kenner’s face was so swollen that her eyes were almost swollen shut, according to the report.
Kenner said that the assault took place for several hours with Murrell holding a piece of glass to Kenner’s throat threatening to kill her. Kenner also told Harrell that Murrell took her cell phone and car keys from her so she couldn’t leave nor call for help.
Tuesday, Lt. Greg Larkin, of the HCSO, served a warrant on Murrell at a residence on Cool Branch Road in Sneedville, where Murrell was arrested. Murrell is currently housed in the Hawkins County Jail pending arraignment in Hawkins County Criminal Court.
