At the July 20 meeting of the Hamblen County Republican Women, the club hosted two candidates competing in the Republican Primary for open Tennessee seats in the U.S. Congress. The guests were Ambassador Bill Hagerty, candidate for U.S. Senate, and state Rep. Timothy Hill, candidate for U.S. 1st District House of Representatives. Continuing with ongoing efforts to educate the public about Republican candidates, the Hamblen County Republican Women and Republican Party have provided opportunities for all Republican candidates to meet the public who are vying to fill the seats of retiring U.S. Rep. Phil Roe, R-Johnson City, and U.S. Sen. Lamar Alexander. The following candidates have appeared in Hamblen County: Hagerty, Dr. Manny Sethi, state Rep. David Hawk, former Johnson City Mayor Steve Darden, former Kinsgsport Mayor John Clark, state Rep. Timothy Hill, Diana Harshbarger, state Sen. Rusty Crowe, Dr. Josh Gapp, Nicole Williams and Chance Cansler. The county general and state primary is on Aug. 6. From left is Carol Peterson, Libby Brooks, Hagerty, Jean Huntsman and Wanda Parks.
