Woman faces charges of violation of sex offender registry

A Dandridge woman, who was sentenced in 2013 in the rape of a 14-year-old special needs boy, was arrested again on Tuesday.

Cocke County Deputy Zachary Magouirk said he arrested Melissa Wylene Williams, 50, Oak Grove Road, during a traffic stop.

The subject was being sought on charges of violation of the sex offender registry and violation of probation.

Williams had been given a seven-year sentence in the case in which she was charged with rape, aggravated sexual battery and statutory rape, as well as burglary of a building and theft.
