A double-wide mobile home on Baker Springs Road outside of White Pine was destroyed by fire Monday evening.
White Pine Volunteer Fire Chief Chad Cotter said the home of Roger and Tracy Pratt was 50% involved in flames when the first engine from his department arrived on the scene, soon after the 10:15 p.m. alarm.
“The cause is undetermined and is under investigation but we don’t suspect foul play,” the chief said. Cotter said the fire is believed to have started at the rear of the home, and the residence is considered a complete loss.
Water to fight the flames was an issue because the two closest hydrants were out of service. As a result, water had to be shuttled from some distance away.
In addition to White Pine firefighters, volunteers from Dandridge, Baneberry, Lakeway Central, Kansas-Talbott, and South Hamblen departments assisted in controlling the flames.
In addition, the Jefferson County EMS, White Pine Police Department, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department and the American Red Cross responded to offer assistance.
