Two men charged in Newport drug bust

Two men are facing charges resulting in the seizure of 146 grams of cocaine, 150 grams of heroin and $7,701 in cash in Newport Thursday night.

Inman Ray McAndrew, 67, was charged with three counts of possession of Schedule II drugs, possession of Schedule II drugs with intent to resale, possession of Schedule I drugs, possession of Schedule I drugs with intent to resale, possession of Schedule III and possession of paraphernalia.

Christopher Myers, 50, was charged with possession of paraphernalia.

At 8:20 p.m., Thursday, officers with the Newport Police Department were called to the parking lot of a local restaurant where the men were slumped over in a parked vehicle. When police arrived, the vehicle had moved to an adjacent parking lot.

Upon approaching the vehicle, Sergeant Will Garber and Patrolman Jessy Burgess saw three people inside the vehicle.

Officers located drug paraphernalia, and a large amount of suspected narcotics/heroin, including a bag containing 146 grams of cocaine and additional baggies with a total of 150 grams of suspected heroin. As the investigation concluded, a total of 19 Oxymorphone pills, 5.5 Oxycodone pills, 5 Suboxone strips, baggies, spoons, and $7,701 in cash was seized.

The investigation revealed McAndrew and Myers had been meeting twice a week over the past year.
