Two Surgoinsville teens and a 70-year-old Rogersville motorcyclist died Wednesday in separate crashes in Hawkins County, according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol.

Ryan Wallace, 19, and Zachary Howell, 18, died at 11:30 p.m. when Wallace’s southbound Honda Civic traveled off the left side of Carters Valley Road “for unknown reasons” and collided with a tree, which impacted the passenger-side door, according to Trooper David Pierce.

Both Wallace and Howell were wearing seat belts, and there was no immediate indication alcohol or drugs were factors in the fatal crash.

“This information is preliminary and may not reflect on the final crash report,” the crash report states.

Funeral arrangements had not been announced for Wallace and Howell – or Kenneth Miller, the other man who was killed in a Hawkins County crash Wednesday – by late this morning.

Miller, who was riding a 2004 Kawasaki, died in a predawn crash at the intersection of Highway 11-W and New Canton Road, according to Trooper Ben Dossett. Miller was northbound around 5:55 a.m. when a Ford F-150 pickup driven by 38-year-old Church Hill resident Jason Christie pulled into his path, according to Trooper Ben Dossett.

“(Christie) failed to see (Miller) and entered his right-of-way,” the preliminary crash report states.

Christie was attempting to cross from New Canton Road to Holliston Mills Road, according to Dossett. No charges have been filed in the fatal crash.
