Two Kingsport men and a Church Hill man were arrested Monday on aggravated robbery charges.
Travis Keith Nelms, 26, and Austin Shane Williams, 22, both of Kingsport and Antonio Reyes Watterson, 28, of Hoard Lane Church Hill, were charged with aggravated robbery and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
According to a report filed by Cpl. Kenneth Ferguson, of the Hawkins County Sheriff’s Office, officers were called to Sensabaugh Tunnel in the Hawkins County near Kingsport. When officers arrived, Ferguson interviewed Alex Mullins and Morgan Lee. Both stated that their vehicle was broken down and the three men had given them a ride. Watterson and Nelms pulled a pistol on Mullins and Lee with Williams possessing a stick.
Lee stated that the men took a blue and pink bag from her, containing items valued at $638, plus $200 in cash. The men made Lee get out of the 2011 Honda Fit and stuck the gun into her face, clicking twice. Mullins stated that the men took his knife, and his wallet with $70 cash.
A “Be on the Lookout” alert was issued to Kingsport Police by Hawkins County Central Dispatch.
KPD located the vehicle at West Side Inn, located on Stone Drive in Kingsport where a traffic stop was conducted by KPD officers. A firearm was located in Williams’ possession. When officers arrived on the scene, the bag with Lee’s possessions was located in the car.
During an interview with Williams, he said that there were two guns involved in the crime. Williams said that a chrome gun was thrown into the woods as the police arrived.
Nelms, Williams and Watterson were all booked into the Hawkins County Jail.
