A Cocke County teen has died as the result of injuries he sustained Monday evening in a motorcycle crash on Caney Creek Road in the Cosby community.

Trooper Erik Raines of the Tennessee Highway Patrol identified the victim as Jacob Frazier, 15, of Cosby.

The 8:14 p.m. incident occurred as Frazier was operating a 2020 Honda motorcycle. The trooper’s updated report said the teen was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash but came off upon impact.

“The vehicle was traveling westbound when a large dog ran from the north side of the roadway into its path. The motorcycle struck the dog, resulting in the driver losing control and crashing the cycle,” the trooper said.

Frazier was reportedly airlifted to the UT Medical Center in Knoxville, and Raines says he was notified of the teen’s death at 1:44 a.m. on Tuesday.
