TCAT winners celebrated

Tennessee College of Applied Technology-Morristown winners of the state SkillsUSA competition were honored recently by state legislators who presented them with a joint resolution.

State Sen. Steve Southerland, R-Morristown, state Rep. Rick Eldridge, R-Morristown, and state Rep. David Hawk, R-Greeneville, presented the resolution to the students.

The resolution was co-sponsored by Southerland and state Rep. Jeremy Faison, R-Cosby.

All competitors who won a medal were honored and commended for their achievements and skills in their chosen field of study and specific competition.

The State Leadership and Skills Conference of SkillsUSa was held in April in Chattanooga and 11 students at TCAT-Morristown medaled during the event.

TCAT-Morristown ended up with five gold medalists, two silver medalists and four bronze medalists Those who won gold will attend the National Leadership Conference of SkillsUSA starting on June 24.

The joint resolution presented to the students this week was signed Gov. Bill Lee, along with the speakers of the house and senate.
