South Marketing Group, a full-service, boutique marketing agency serving Morristown and surrounding area businesses, is starting the new year with a fresh round of certifications.

“Everyone at SMG brings something unique to the company, but we share a common goal: to deliver data-driven and creative marketing strategies to our clients,” said SMG founder Leigh Sempkowski. “That means staying up-to-date with our continuing education.”

Sempkowski started South Marketing Group because she noticed her colleagues and friends outsourcing their marketing needs to agencies that were out of state, and out of touch with the community of the Lakeway Area. Experienced in both traditional and digital marketing, Sempkowski decided to open her own firm in 2017.

Sempkowski is no exception, completing many hours of study, Facebook ad placement and testing to become Facebook Blueprint Certified as a Digital Marketing Associate.

“Getting measurable results with Facebook ads can be challenging, if you’re not trained,” Sempkowski said. “And Facebook’s most recent rules and restrictions can seem overwhelming. That’s why I’m glad to stay on top of them on our clients’ behalf.”

SMG Vice-President Bobbie Odom completed the Hootsuite Social Marketing Course and Certification.

“The course and exam covers the core principles of social media marketing on everything from creating a social media strategy and optimizing your social profiles, to creating and sharing effective social content and effective social media ads on all platforms,” says Odom. “A lot of what we do at SMG involves successfully running social media accounts for our clients.”

Copywriter Meghan Palmer earned Hubspot’s certification for Content Marketing, which includes content marketing strategy and planning, effective storytelling in content marketing, and effectively creating an informational ecosystem that links and strengthens businesses’ social media platforms and websites.

“Effective marketing is all about connecting with your audience, and it’s about getting your message where people can see it,” Palmer said. “That’s what content marketing is all about.”
