The remains found by a farmhand in a Whitesburg field earlier this month have been positively identified, according to Hamblen County Coroner Eddie Davis.
Charles Bradford Carpenter, 42, was last seen in December of 2018, according to the Hamblen County Sheriff’s Department.
The Sheriff’s Department announced he was missing in January of 2020.
Davis said authorities are awaiting the final report to determine the cause of death.
Detective Sgt. George Sauceman with the Hamblen County Sheriff’s Department was in charge of the missing-person case.
“As of right now, there is no indication of foul play,” Sauceman said this morning.
Those with information about how Carpenter died are encouraged to call Sauceman at 423-586-3881.
