The sound of multi-Dove and Grammy Award-winning recording artist David Phelps will be featured in Morristown on Friday, July 12 at First Baptist Church, located at 504 W. Main St. The concert event begins at 7 p.m.
Once a childhood musical prodigy from Tomball, TexasX, Phelps earned a bachelor’s degree in music from Baylor University. Since then, he has become a nationally celebrated vocalist. Perhaps best known as the tenor for the Gaither Vocal Band, Phelps is constantly building on his career. Emerging as a leading voice in contemporary Christian music, Phelps has won the hearts of audiences all over the world for more than two decades. He has performed at numerous venues across the globe, including the White House, New York’s Carnegie Hall and the Sydney Opera House in Australia. With 14 solo albums to his credit, David’s voice has moved audiences from all walks of life, crossing generational and stylistic barriers.
This event, presented by A Carpenter’s Son Production, features Phelps, as well as his musical entourage, including daughters, Callie and Maggie Beth, and will feature many of the songs from Phelps’ Hymnal recording. Phelps lends his three-octave range to some of the most treasured hymns of the church with this new recording, which showcases such traditional hymns as “Amazing Grace,” “How Great Thou Art,” “In The Garden,” “Victory In Jesus” and “It Is Well With My Soul.”
