Friday morning the New Market Fire Department was dispatched to a home fire on Paul Drive.
Capt. Sammy Solomon identified the occupants of the residence were Kristie Arnold and Roger Greene.
“We had to shuttle water from about three miles away. Although no injuries were reported, the home sustained heavy damage,” Solomon said. “We had a total of about 40 firefighters on the scene, with eight tankers, five engines and two support vehicles.”
He thanked the Kansas Talbot, Lakeway Central, Rutledge and West Hamblen volunteer fire departments, as well as Jefferson City Fire Department, Jefferson County EMS, Jefferson County Dispatch, and Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department for their assistance.
Solomon added, “We remind everyone to have working smoke alarms in every bedroom and on every floor of your home.”
