The Cocke County Partnership’s Chamber of Commerce will again host a series of free concerts this summer along the City of Newport’s Riverwalk. The Marshall Law Band kicks off the first event at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 13.

The Newport Kiwanis Club will be selling food as a fundraiser for area kids and The Rustic Cow will be selling ice cream. “We are so glad to be bringing back Rhythm on the River this year.” said CCP Chamber Director Lynn Ramsey. “We invite folks to bring lawn chairs or blankets. Bring a football or a Frisbee, and we’ll have corn hole and other games for the little ones. We hope it is a relaxing, enjoyable evening for everyone.”

Several local businesses are sponsoring the concert series.

“We are so thankful to all our sponsors,” added Ramsey. “We could not do this without them and also a special thanks to the City of Newport for all their help to make this another wonderful summer of music on the Riverwalk. “Come on down, find your spot and relax before the concert starts if you like.”

Food will be available and the games will start at 6:30 p.m.

The line-up for the rest of summer is already set; Jigsaw Jane will play on June 27; Mountain Edge will perform July 11; and Grits from Dumplin Valley, a blues, jazz and fund band, is scheduled for July 25th.
