Merchants Greene Family Medicine celebrated its new location with a Morristown Area Chamber of Commerce ribbon cutting Thursday.

Even as the rain poured outside, the smiles were wide Thursday inside Merchants Greene Family Medicine as the ribbon was cut officially announcing the opening of the new medical office.

Dr. Blake Melling had tears in his eyes as he thanked his wife, his staff and everyone who helped make moving into the new facility possible.

In particular, there was one group he thanked.

“None of this would have been possible without the wonderful patients we see every day,” he said.

The practice, which is under the umbrella of HealthStar Physicians, opened its doors on Sept. 17. The practice was formerly known as HealthStar Physicians West and was located on West Andrew Johnson Highway in Alpha.

The facility is a full-scope family practice with Melling, Dr. Shannon Hancock, partner, Mike Etter, nurse practitioner and Dr. Roy Nevils, clinical psychologist, operating in the office.

Chris Horn, 2018 chairman of the board for the Morristown Area Chamber of Commerce, made opening statements before Melling spoke.

He said healthcare plays a large part in the U.S. economy and it is no different in Morristown.

“We really value and appreciate our healthcare here in Morristown,” Horn said.

He also spoke on how Merchants Greene will soon become a vibrant economic hub.

“This is a great location,” he said. “I’m particularly fond of this location.”

Melling said he and his staff had been thinking about moving locations for quite some time and it was a “long journey.”

“We felt the time was right to take the leap of faith,” he said.

Melling said they were presented with several different options for layouts and chose from each one. By the time it was done, they had an office suite that was unique for Merchants Greene Family Medicine.

“This is our design,” he said.

Rita Baker, CEO of HealthStar Physicians, said she looks forward to seeing the practice to continue the excellent care they have provided for the community.

“They’ve done a fabulous job and we’re proud to have them at HealthStar,” she said.
