MATS planning summer fundraiser

The Ministerial Association Temporary Shelter is making up for lost fundraising time due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The First Family Fun Day is designed with everyone in mind. The Family Fun Day will be held Saturday, July 26 at Cherokee Park in the Citizen Tribune/Jefferson Federal Amphitheatre.

“What is going to be neat about it is everybody needs to get out post COVID-19,” MATS Executive Director Tonya Polidoro said. “It’s going to be like a carnival without rides. We’ll have bouncy houses, inflatable obstacle courses, a dunking booth, a giant Jenga game, face painting and family activities.”

As with most festivals, food will also be available from various food trucks, as well as snow cones and much more.

The event is being sponsored by Amy Shrader, agent with Re\MAX Real Estate.

Family Fun Day will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, July 26. If you purchase your ticket before the event, it is $20 per person. The price will increase to $25 per person the day of the event. Tickets are available at www.matstn.com/family-funday or call 423-587-9215.

“We think the Family Fun Day is something the community needs after being cooped up this past year with COVID-19,” Polidoro said. “It’s going to be outdoors, we feel like it’s will be safe and fun. I think the community will go crazy over this.”

Meanwhile, tickets are also being sold for MATS’ Annual Victory Concert featuring Jason Crabb set for 7 p.m., Saturday, August 14 at Manley Baptist Church.
