Archie Campbell had nothing on a couple of moonshiners.
Campbell, Bulls Gap’s “native son” who was on the “Hee-Haw” TV show for years, was upstaged by Mark and Digger, a couple of moonshiners from Cocke County who rose to fame in Discovery Channel’s “Moonshiners” reality shows in recent years.
Mark and Digger served as Grand Marshals of the 2022 Bulls Gap Christmas Parade Sunday afternoon.
Along with Mark and Digger, there were plenty of classic cars, floats and various advertisers throughout the route.
First place float went to New Hope Church at the Gap for “The Grinch Who Stole Christmas.” Second place float was won by Southerland Family Farm in Whitesburg for another Grinch-themed float. S&H Services of Mohawk won third place with its float of Christmas animals and gifts.
While there were no marching bands in attendance, the ever-popular “Thristine” band was playing numbers on a float sponsored by “Tha Gap” Bar and Grill along the route.
The parade route began at Bulls Gap School and traveled through the town along Main Street and U.S. Highway 11E before ending back at the school.
“Christmas at the Farm” kicked off the yuletide activities Saturday and Sunday at the Bulls Gap Park, located on VFW Road. There were craft vendors, as well as Santa and Mrs. Claus.
