A Cocke County man was sentenced Tuesday in Cocke County Criminal Court to charges stemming from the execution of a search warrant at his residence on English Mountain Road in Newport in May 2019.
Sheriff’s Office Drug and DEA Agent Chuck Evans said undercover officers had made heroin purchases from the residence of Jeffrey Teague, 55, over several months. During a subsequent search, oxycodone, 2.6 grams of heroin, marijuana and $50 in cash were located in a bedroom. Additional cash was found on Teague.
Teague was charged with possession of heroin for resale, possession of marijuana, possession of oxycodone for resale and felony possession of drug paraphernalia.
Judge Carter Moore gave Teague an eight-year sentence, however, the term will be on supervised probation after the defendant serves a year in jail. Teague was ordered to pay $3,650 in fines along with court costs. He also will undergo an alcohol and drug assessment, and attend a long term drug rehabilitation program.
