Jingle Run goes virtual

Our world is a different place now.

All of us are working to safely adapt and thrive amid the constraints and guidelines necessary to slow the spread of COVID-19.

Even as COVID-19 has challenged us all to find new ways of working and living, the other health care needs of our community have not stopped.

Some of our friends and neighbors are still battling cancer, strokes, and other devastating illnesses.

Babies are still being born.

And the people are committed to helping them recover with your support.

In light of these unique circumstances, Morristown Regional Cancer Center has made the decision to shift the 2020 Jingle Run for Hope to a virtual event which will allow participants to race their way. All participants will walk as individuals, teams, or friends/families in their local neighborhood or on one of our certified courses.

Participants can show their support in a variety of ways:

Join a virtual team to walk as individuals, teams, or friends/families Dec. 5 to Dec. 20. Join by Racing Your Way to show your continued support to the cause and commitment to participate this season. Simply select the type of run you’d like to participate in:

• A 1 mile walk/run anywhere event utilizing any 1 mile route that the participant chooses.

• An untimed 5K walk/run event utilizing any 5K route that the participant chooses.

• A timed 5K walk/run on a certified course at Panther Creek State Park. Participants must utilize the RaceJoy app to log their time and distance to be eligible for awards.

Each choice will allow the use of the RaceJoy application from RunSignup to capture and record time and distance or a participant can record their time for any of the “run anywhere” courses using their Garmin, FitBit, or whatever method they choose and manually submit their time.

The only requirement for the “run anywhere” events is that the participants complete the walk/run in one session.

Participants may utilize the RaceJoy application to record their time and distance or they can manually record and submit their time.

The top 3 women and top 3 men will be awarded for first, second, and third place.

No awards will be given for the “run anywhere” events, but tag the hospital on Facebook wearing your best Christmas costume and the top 3 will be awarded.

Participants who choose the Walk/Run on the certified course at Panther Creek State Park will be required to walk/run the certified course.

In order to be eligible for awards for the certified course, participants must utilize the RaceJoy Application to record their time.

A powerful sense of community is being felt knowing that thousands of individuals and families are walking alongside with the center in their neighborhoods and communities across East Tennessee. With your help, we will continue to support the patients and families impacted by cancer in the community.
