Jefferson woman charged with aggravated domestic assault

A Jefferson City woman was jailed for aggravated domestic assault on Friday after she allegedly struck her ex-husband with her vehicle, sending him onto the front of her vehicle, according to authorities.

Candi Leshea Smith, 40, allegedly narrowly missed pinning Freddie Smith against a neighbor’s vehicle. The alleged victim then fired a shot into one of the defendant’s tires before she left the scene, according to Deputy Rabon Coleman, who reported several people witnessed the event and corroborated Mr. Smith’s story.

After receiving a be-on-the-lookout alert, an unidentified law enforcement officer stopped the defendant’s vehicle.

Mrs. Smith was upset over a broken dish. She came to her ex-husband’s Northwind Drive residence around 8:45 p.m. and threw a glass object at his car, damaging the rear, driver-side of the vehicle, according to a warrant.

The defendant was released from the Hamblen County Jail after posting a $10,000 bond.
