HOLA Lakeway is getting ready for one of its top events of the year. The Fifth Annual HOLA Lakeway International Food Festival will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 31 at the historic Rose Center, located at 442 West Second North Street in Morristown.
The fundraiser will feature sweet and savory foods from vendors from Venezuela, Pakistan, Nicaragua, Mexico, Guatemala, Panama and much more. There will also be live music and dancing.
Entry to the event is free and open to the public.
Vendors will sell food at low prices so that all can sample more than one vendor’s authentic cuisine. Proceeds from the event will go toward supporting HOLA Lakeway’s programs and events, such as language classes, workshops and afterschool program.
In April, the HOLA Lakeway Language Institute completed its first year of English and Spanish classes, the student body of which was almost 150 members strong. HOLA learned a lot after hosting its first year of classes and plans to implement important changes so that students can find even more success. Another year of classes will begin in the fall.
The International Food Festival is sponsored by Jake Stokely Farmers Insurance and the Tennessee Education Equality Coalition. Serving as partners include Morristown-Hamblen Central Services, HC*EXCELL, 2.18 Media, RHiTA
and the Morristown Diversity Taskforce.
