A special Christmas performance by the Tusculum Jazz Band Friday night will kick off an assortment of holiday events planned at the historic General Morgan Inn.

The band will perform in the lobby of the hotel, located at 111 North Main Street in downtown Greeneville, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Complimentary hot chocolate and apple cider will be provided for the event, which is planned in conjunction with the lighting of the downtown Christmas tree. The concert is free and open to the public.

“We look forward to this event each year,” said Michael Brown, the hotel’s general manager. “It’s a fun way to kick off the Christmas season at our hotel.

“We invite residents to stop by and grab something hot to drink, sit by our fireplace, listen to seasonal music and enjoy the hotel’s lavish Christmas decorations.”

On Dec. 14, Saint Nicholas will visit the hotel as part of the annual “Brunch with Santa,” held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at historic Brumley’s Restaurant.

The hotel’s popular Christmas Day Buffet will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Brumley’s, featuring a wide array of soups, salads, entrees, side dishes and desserts.

“Returning this year is our popular seafood bar with cold-smoked duck trap salmon, chilled citrus poached gulf shrimp and shucked gulf oysters,” Brown said. “It is a nice addition to our traditional entrees such as slow-roasted prime rib with creamy horseradish and natural au jus and hand-carved cherry-cola glazed pit ham.”

For New Year’s Eve, the hotel is offering three special party packages. The “Dinner and Dancing Package” for only $80 per person starts with a dinner buffet, followed by unlimited gourmet hors d’oeuvres throughout the night, music provided by popular pianist Cleve Edwards, local band Ivy Road and DJ Robbie Britton, and party favors with a complimentary champagne toast at midnight. A “Deluxe Overnight Package” and “Party-Only Package” also are available.

Reservations are required for all of the holiday events at General Morgan Inn.
