Newport police say they investigated two vehicle crashes on Tuesday which left four individuals with minor injuries.
A crash just before 4 p.m. involved a Cocke County school bus and a Ford SUV.
Newport Police Capt. Matthew Elliott said the collision occurred on Musterfield Road at Thompson Street. The bus with three students was operated by Susie Totten, 64, Parrottsville. Totten told police she had stopped to let students off her bus and when she pulled forward she struck a 2014 Ford Explorer operated by Danielle Williams, 29, Newport.
Williams said she had stopped in the roadway for the bus, and as the bus moved forward and rounded a corner, it moved into her lane of travel, striking her vehicle.
Totten and her two 10-year-old passengers were not injured. An 11-year-old student complained of minor injuries but did not require medical treatment.
Earlier in the day, just before 8 a.m., police responded to a crash on West Main Street at the Cosby Highway intersection.
Patrol officer Michael Robey said westbound Brittany Dixon, 33, Mosheim, attempted a left turn from Main Street and was struck by an eastbound vehicle operated by Jamie James, 40, Newport. Dixon said her view was obstructed by a school bus which was in front of her.
James and her passengers, 10 and 12 years old, were taken to the Newport Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries.
No charges were filed in either crash.
