Fire damages home on Derbyshire Court

A fire at 420 Derbyshire Court Monday morning resulted in major damages.

According to Captain Marty Bryant, of the Morristown Fire Department, four engines, one company, a police officer and a medic unit responded to the 6:35 a.m. fire.

The fire started and was contained in the garage area. A smoke alarm woke the family inside the house, which resulted in their safe evacuation.

There were $100,000 in damages to the garage and its contents, including two cars, and another $100,000 in structural damages due to water and smoke.

The family was outside the home when first units arrived.
