Construction of a new 62-unit townhouse development on Central Church Road – The Grove at West Parke – will begin this week, Morristown developer Phillip Carlyle announced this morning.

The Grove at West Park is across Central Church Road from another Carlyle-constructed development, Parke Villas, which is complete and fully occupied.

Precision Construction Solutions received approval to build rental units on the 7.6-acre tract. That development never materialized, and Carlyle acquired the property about two months ago for $200,000, which included the city-approved plans.

Carlyle says 30 of the two-level townhomes will have attached garages, and will rent for approximately $1,195 a month. The remaining 32 units will have designated parking spaces and start at about $995 per month.

Twenty-four of these units will have two bedrooms. The remaining eight will be three-bedroom rentals, according to Carlyle.

The developer says he reworked the proposed plans submitted by Precision, and may have found enough space for a pool and a workout center and clubhouse.

The Grove at West Park will have 31 buildings. Carlyle says he plans to build the townhouses in groups of nine to 12. He says he plans to market the rental units while they’re being built. The developer says construction will continue until all 62 townhouses are built.

The proposed development went before the Morristown Regional Planning Commission on Tuesday to get approval for the names of the two interior roads, Ironside Terrace and Carrie Court.

The planning commission also approved the names for the two interior roadways inside Carlyle’s 172-lot lakefront development, Bridgewater Pointe. The roads will be called Bridgewater Boulevard and Shoreline Vista. Carlyle says he will begin marketing Bridgewater Pointe lots next week.
