A regional philanthropist and business leader, Sidney Alvin Blalock died Monday surrounded by family and friends.

Born in Sevierville, Blalock graduated from the University of Tennessee, where he met his wife of 58 years, JoNelda Williams Blalock.

In addition to Jo, Blalock is survived by three children and five grandchildren.

He was CEO and a founder of Charles Blalock & Sons Inc., which began in 1962.

Over the years the company has expanded into multiple businesses with over 800 employees serving Tennessee, Virginia and North Carolina.

The company has performed hundreds of jobs in the Lakeway Area over the years.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 12 at Sevier Heights Baptist Church at 6 p.m.

The family will receive friends between 3 and 5:30 p.m.
